Listen Now, Talk Later

I heard something years ago that still resonates with me today.

Listen to your kids now so that they’ll talk to you later.

In other words give them due attention now and they’ll be comfortable to come to you later with their problems and for advice.

It’s a good message, but damn it’s hard to achieve, especially on a long road trip filled with imaginary games, people, stories, and in a lot of cases utter gibberish.

Sometimes in life all you need to do is try, and that’s enough.
